FAQs About Flying with Your Pet

1.Can I board flights with my pet?

Many airlines will allow your pet to board the cabin with you, but usually only very small pets and for an additional fee. Airlines also give the option for pets to travel in cargo which many pet owners understandably would not consider doing.

2.Can I board flights with my emotional support animal?

Unfortunately emotional support animals no longer have the right to board the cabin of planes free of charge. ESAs are treated as normal pets under airline policies.

3.Can I board flights with my psychiatric service dog?

Yes! All service dogs still have the right to accompany their handlers in the cabin of airplanes, free of charge. In order to fly with a service dog, the handler will need to submit the DOT’s Service Animal Air Transportation Form to the airline.
